Martin Figlinski was born in Panama City, Florida in 1970 and currently resides there with his wife and daughter.
Figlinski's interest in art was noticeable at an early age as he spent countless hours creating pencil sketches. By the age of fourteen he was beginning to develop his skills as a painter. He attributes his knowledge of painting to studying some of history's great artists such as Turner and Inness and drawing much inspiration from the 19th century Hudson River School Artists who helped shape landscape painting in America.
He paints "studies" from life as much as possible as he deems this necessary to capture the overall feel of his subjects. "While painting on location, I'm aware of all my senses. The sights, the sounds and the movement of the light all come into play in the finished painting." Life studies combined with intense observations of nature provide the nucleus from which his larger studio canvas' are created.
Figlinski works exclusively in oil and is an active member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA) and Plein Air Florida.
